This is a post that caused me to reflect about what category I would label this... my choice - LIFE. It could have been Adolescence, Believe it or Not, Church, Education, Events, Family, Friends, Mission, Mystical Moment, Pictures, Prayer, Questions, Scripture, Spiritual Formation, Stories, Theology or Youth Ministry. I thought through each of these categories as they related to Sara Powell and Amber Francis and the memories easily flow in my mind. It was September 1993 when Sara and Amber came running through my house to my deck and presented themselves to me in full hyperactive enthusiasm, as I stood over the grill making hot dogs for all the Junior highers that were gathering. "Hi Mike King! We are Sara and Amber, we went to camp this summer and you are going to get to know us really well." That is almost word for word. They were bouncing as they made their prophetic proclamation. They were prophets. Sara and Amber were added to our large family. They were amazing leaders. We did ministry together. We traveled all over the world together on mission trips. They worked at camp as teenagers. They served on our full-time summer staff at camp and in missions. We watched them grow up into Godly young women. They went to college at the University of Missouri and continued to impact their friends for Jesus. Sara and Amber are the kind of youth that God allows you to work with that make the disappointments of youth ministry fade away into irrelevance. Amber just graduated from Trinity Divinity School and is now engaged. Sara, after completing an internship with YouthFront, now works at Horn Creek Camp in Colorado where she met Andrew West. Last Saturday night Sara and Andrew were married. Amber was the Maid of Honor. Sara's story during the wedding included her Student Life and YouthFront life. I SMILED all night because I sensed GOD SMILING. What a great night. What a wonderful LIFE.
