I have a good friend who lives in Bethlehem whom I've know since my first trip to Israel in 1978. He is an Arab Christian named Costandi Canavati. He is a prominent businessman in Bethlehem. If he didn't meet us at the Border Crossing into Bethlehem we probably wouldn't go to Bethlehem. This is the first time I've been to Bethlehem in three years since the Security Fence has been completed. I must say it is ugly in many ways. We had a great visit with Costandi and his wife Georgia. I took some of my books for Costandi and for Bethlehem Bible College. We were escorted to The Church of the Nativity for a visit. Nativity Square and the surrounding area was filled with Secret Service, CIA and other personnel getting ready for the visit of President Bush. We actually got to meet some of the agents. We had some good political discussions with Costandi and were treated to lunch at his wonderful store called The Herodian. If you go to Bethlehem it is good to have a friend like Costandi.
